And You Say
Jensen/Danneel, 680 words. Jensen proposes on a Sunday morning.
She's down for the weekend, which is normal. Well, not normal--sometimes he goes to her, or they both go to LA, or to Texas, but he's used to her being around.
"It's nice to not have to worry Jared's dogs are going to eat me in my sleep," she says, giving him a smile. She's wearing one of his shirts and her hair needs a dye. She doesn't have any makeup on, and it makes him so happy, that they're this far. He's had girlfriends he--well, bit like Danneel, but girlfriends he liked a lot who hated him seeing them before they were put together.
He tosses her a grin. "Jared's dogs love you. They like you better than me and him put together, and Icarus has them whipped."
She laughs. "It's because I'm cooler than you and Jared put together." She grabs his coffee and takes a drink. He rolls his eyes and grabs the pot, giving her a refill. "Speaking of you and Jared put together, someone sent me a really creepy photo manip of your hypothetical ass baby."
"Have I ever told you how much I love it when you don't cc me on things?"
"It was a really bad job. The forehead should've been way bigger."
"Is this what happens when you aren't the lead on your show?" he asks. "You have too much free time and just get really involved with crazy internet fans?" He thinks for a minute. "I mean, you, Misha, Mike--I'm kind of worried."
"I think me and Misha need to start a flamewar for your love," she says.
"Please don't."
She laughs. "So, what are we doing today?"
He looks her up and down, lingering on her bare legs, raising his eyebrows as he meets her eyes.
"Boys," she says, shaking her head. "One track mind. Come on, you have me for one day only."
She's teasing, and he knows it, but it still hits him somewhere a little below his heart, a dull ache that's always there and just spikes sometimes.
They've been long distance for as long as they've been them, and he doesn't like it, but it's inescapable. She's not working in Vancouver and he is. He doesn't want her to give things up for him, and she doesn't want him to either.
She stretches, and she's beautiful, and he loves her so much that he feels stupid with it. He loves her so much that every time he gets drunk, he drapes all over Jared and bemoans the fact that she's not there, and Jared records it and sends it to her, and he doesn't even care.
"One second," he says.
He bought the ring last year, over Christmas. He thought he'd give it to her then, but they had a stupid fight--he can't even remember what it was, something about him spending too much on her Christmas present--and he hadn't thought never, just not right now.
When he comes back into the dining room, she's got her leg pulled onto the chair with her, flashing him so absently that it makes him feel more fond than horny.
He thinks most girls wouldn't want to be proposed to like this. He remembers when Jared proposed to Sandy, how much he planned it, how he had everything perfect.
"So, hey," says Jensen. He thinks--yeah, he's doing this, gets down on one knee. "I love you. And I want to spend the rest of the day with you, and then the rest of my life with you. So--want to get married?"
She laughs, but she's smiling so much, and he can see tears in her eyes. "I hope that wasn't rehearsed," she says. "Because you could do better, Ackles."
"Is that a yes?"
"Yeah," she says, slides off her chair to kiss him. "Of course it's a yes." She laughs. "Of course."
"So now we can have sex for the rest of the day, right?" he asks. "I hear that's what engaged people do."
"Yeah," she says. "That definitely bought you a lot of sex."
