So, thanks to everyone for feedback on my poll last night! I think we can all agree that stickyposts with all fanfic are the best, but the sad truth of it is that I just don't do well updating those, and even if I did it once, there is no reason to think I would do it with any regularity. So even if I massively overhauled it now (which I tried to do and lost patience REALLY FAST), in another couple months we'd be in the same position.
That said, I've been poking around Delicious and I do find it much easier to update those tags than LJ tags, partly because my LJ tags were never intended to actually be a primary organizing system, so they're kind of sucky, and party because I got a firefox add-on for Delicious that makes it super-easy.
What does this mean for you, the reader? Here's what I'm hoping to do in the next few days:
1. Update my LJ tags so that all my fic is actually tagged again.
2. Create Delicious tags for all my stories, with the following information tagged for each story:
Fandom
Pairings/Characters (if gen)
Rating
Genre (note: the genre category is FAIRLY WEIRD so far. Because I'm bad at genres.)
Wordcount
AU/non-AU/verse
There is also a special tag called "chashpick" which means it's one of my personal favorites
3. Masterposts for major verses.
4. Putting an index on each drabble meme of what is actually contained in said meme. I'd been trying to figure out a good way to do this for ages, and I just the other day realized I could just EDIT THE POSTS and put it there, instead of doing masterposts. I'm smart, guys.
5. A post with links to Delicious tags by category (J2 AU, J2 non-AU, crossover, adaptation, etc.) as well as links to 'verse masterposts. LJ tags will remain on the side of my LJ, as they always have.
Actual order in which I do things may vary! But, yeah. I know some people don't like/use Delicious, and I'm not a huge fan myself, but if you don't want to use it, I will be hopefully keeping up with LJ tags better. The main thing is that what I am doing now is clearly not working, and I don't see any evidence that I will get better about my masterpost. So if I can come up with something I will actually keep up with, that would be nice.
